Ren Hurst Natural Hoof Care, in conjunction with High Hope Ranch of Glen Rose, Texas, enthusiastically invites you to attend a fun-filled weekend of learning hooves - the natural way! This clinic will be presented and instructed by Ida Hammer of Congerville, IL. Ida is a respected hoof care specialist and trimming clinician, a former AANHCP member, and currently a practicing member of the American Hoof Association. She presently has between 500-600 horses in her care and has studied under and worked with some of the best, including Pete Ramey, Charles Hall, Chad Bembenek, and Patrick Eames to name a few. What a great opportunity to learn from one of the best this country has to offer in hoof care and overall horse health!
NOVEMBER 13-14th (Saturday 10am-3pm, Sunday 9am-5pm)
This special event is designed to help horse owners better understand the benefits and how-to behind natural hoof care. On Saturday the 13th, we will debunk the myths, explain the truthful negative effects of using shoes, address the science behind how to make it work, go over basic anatomy and function, and provide a better overall understanding to owners looking for answers. Day two of the clinic (Sunday the 14th) is a full on trimming class for owners interested in learning to trim their own horses with confidence. We will be teaching you on cadaver legs, and this class will also include a full dissection for a thorough lesson on anatomy and function within the hoof. Participation in the actual trimming portion of the class is limited to the first 20 people to reserve a spot, but auditors are welcome at a reduced cost.
There are three levels of participation and fees. If you would like to be a full participant and learn to trim (limited to first 20 people), the cost will be $250 per person. You will need to provide your own tools for this class. You may also audit the entire weekend, minus the hands-on learning, for $125. Saturday-only participants can attend for $50. Lunch is included for all participants both days.
We will be concluding Saturday's class with a guided trail ride. If you would like to bring your horse and participate in this ride, there is a ranch use fee of $25. There are also limited accommodations available at the ranch for those wishing to stay overnight. If you do choose to stay at the ranch, the trail ride fee is included in your accommodation reservation. Here are the available options:
Overnight Accommodations:
1 - A designated space for your own self-contained horse trailer/RV. The ranch does not supply hook-ups or allow dumping. Faucets are available to fill your own containers if needed. Please bring your own supplies to meet your specific needs. ($25)
2 - A private, single or double occupancy, room in Habari...the rustic and welcoming original farmhouse that serves as a wonderful spacious guest-house. Habari has 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen well stocked with general staples, dishes, and appliances for your use. Guests are welcome to bring their own food. ($65)
3 - Additional beds and futons in the living areas of Habari, the guest-house, for those of you who are willing to share open space for sleeping or for large group use. ($40)
4 - For the more adventuresome...camping on the land! ($15)
There are limited corrals/pasture available for your horses, and these are included in the above prices, but are reserved solely for those staying overnight. We do ask that you bring all of your own hay/feed and water buckets/containers. A current negative coggins is required. For those bringing horses in for only the trail ride, you will be responsible for securing your horse during the day as there may not be open corrals available.

Important notice:
This class is set up to help horse owners who want to trim their own horses proceed with more confidence. It also helps horse owners who do not wish to trim their own horses, but would like to understand the hoof mechanism better. If you choose to do this professionally it is strongly recommended that you attend a full course of education and or certification program for natural trimming.
